The main objective of this study was to develop a novel dry-washing method that allows asphalt ploughing at low temperatures. A slurry composed of water, HDPE, and an emulsifier (octylphenol) was spray-dried at 110°C for 24 h. The slurry was then ground using a ball mill and screened to obtain small aggregates. Three batches of asphalt ploughing were carried out at 0, 10, and 30 °C with different dilutions of the water/HDPE slurry (1:10, 1:5, 1:2). At each temperature, three trials were performed in random order with a total of 20 pieces per batch. Samples were taken after 2 h of ploughing to measure the percentage weight loss due to asphalt erosion. Results showed that the addition of an emulsifier improved asphalt erosion resistance by reducing viscosity fluctuations during ploughing and facilitating wetting/flushing of aggregates by water droplets
